GENOMEBREAST

TEST FOR GENETIC SUSCEPTIBILITY TO BREAST AND OVARIAN CANCER

WHAT IS GENOMEBREAST® TESTING?

A screening test that helps you find out your risk of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.

WHY SHOULD WE RESEARCH?

The BRCA genes (BRCA1 and BRCA2) protect against the development of several types of cancer. If these genes do not function properly (that is, possess a mutation), then the risk of developing cancer increases many fold.
These inherited mutations are found in the vast majority of cases of breast or ovarian cancer. By age 70, nearly 87% of women with mutations in one of these genes develop breast cancer, and up to 44% of them develop ovarian cancer. BRCA gene mutation carriers who have already been diagnosed with cancer have an increased risk of developing a second primary tumor.

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

MY BRCA

Tested genes - BRCA1, BRCA2

3 to 4 weeks result, Veritas Genetics laboratory, Boston, USA.

MY BRCA HIRISK

Analysis of 26 genes* (including BRCA 1 & 2 genes) associated with high risk of developing breast cancer, ovarian cancer and other hereditary cancers. The analysis was performed at the Veritas Genetics laboratory, Boston, USA.

* Genes studied - BRCA1, BRCA2, ATM, MSH2, BLM, MUTYH, EPCAM, RAD51C, BARD1, MSH6, NBN, FAM175A, RAD51D, PALB2, MEN1, STK11, CDH1, PTEN, MRE11A, XRCC2, BRIP1, PMS2, MLH1, TP53, CHEK2, RAD50.

The extended package is recommended for families with a familial burden of two or more different cancers, people diagnosed early and those diagnosed more than once.

WHO SHOULD BE EXAMINED?

  • When a woman has first- or second-degree relatives who have been diagnosed with breast or ovarian cancer. The first line is the mother and sisters and the second line is grandmothers and aunts.
  • If a woman has developed breast cancer by age 45 (before menopause), this is a signal that there is a high likelihood of genetic predisposition. This is also important in determining treatment choices.
  • If the cancer is on both breasts, whether it developed at the same time or at different times.
  • If a woman is found to have breast cancer, then ovarian cancer or vice versa.
  • When harmful mutations of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes are detected in a woman, all her first and second-degree relatives must take the test.
  • When a patient is found to have triple negative breast cancer, testing is mandatory.

FOR VERITAS GENETICS:

Co-founded by George Church and a group of pioneers in genetics, including the leaders of the Harvard Medical School Human Genome Project. The Human Genome Project provides the foundation for modern genetics. The company is based in Boston, USA.
The company's goal is one - for people to live longer by being healthier.

WHAT INFORMATION DOES GENOMEBREAST® PROVIDE?

The results of GenomeBreast® enable the development of personalized health care plans specifically targeted to reduce cancer risk. If your test result is positive, the following actions can be taken:

  • More frequent preventive check-ups and other individual measures to increase clinical effectiveness, which include:
    • Clinical examination of the mammary glands every 6-12 months
    • Mammography and nuclear magnetic resonance every year
  • Therapy reducing the risk of cancer
  • Operative intervention reducing the risk of cancer
  • Counselling family members on the signs of breast and ovarian cancer
  • Eliminate unnecessary interventions for family members for whom the susceptibility test has yielded a negative result.

All these measures are accompanied by a significant reduction in medical costs due to early diagnosis and treatment. For more information, you can call +359895770869.
