  • 1971-1978: Studied medicine at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1978;
  • 1982: He started his specialist training at the University Clinic of Surgery in Vienna;
  • 1987: Obtained the right to practice medicine as a specialist in surgery;
  • 1988: Worked as a senior physician at the University Clinic of Surgery;
  • 1993: Became head of the outpatient colon and rectal surgery department at the clinic;
  • 1994: Completed his habilitation;
  • Since 1995: He is a senior physician in the University Department of Surgery;
  • Since 1996: Secretary General of the Society of Surgeons in Vienna;
  • Since 2003: President of EFR - European Federation for Colorectal Cancer;
  • Since 2005: Deputy Director of the Department of Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna (MUW).
