  • 1975-1982: University medical education in Vienna,
  • 1982-1984: Assistant professor at the Institute of Pathological Anatomy, University of Vienna, with research activities at the Hans Popper Laboratory of Molecular Pathology (topic: carcinogenesis of intestinal polyps),
  • 1984-1994. University Clinic of Surgery at AKH - Vienna and began training as a specialist in many areas of adult surgery with additional focus on the entire spectrum of pediatric and adolescent surgery. His training includes visceral surgery, vascular surgery, pediatric thoracic surgery, cardiac surgery and plastic/reconstructive surgery,
  • 1994: Obtained a license to teach surgery at the Medical Faculty of Vienna and led the planning of the new University Clinic for Child and Adolescent Surgery in Vienna, which he successfully commissioned in March 1994,
  • 1994: Development of an artificial heart device,
  • 1996. Prof. Rokitansky until 2005,
  • 2006: Development of an Austrian implant for chest correction without metal abrasion in the body,
  • From 2017 to date: Chair of Pediatric and Adolescent Surgery at the private Sigmund Freud University in Vienna,
  • 2021: Primarius Surgery at the private clinic in Vienna; development of a negative pressure and positive pressure aspiration bell for the conservative treatment of funnel chest

  • 1999-2003: Austrian representative of pediatric surgery in EUMS (European Union of Medical Specialists) and member of the medical advisory committee of the International Make-a-Wish Foundation, Austria,
  • 2001-2004: President of the Austrian Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Surgery, member of the board of the Austrian Society of Surgery and chairman of the examination committee for specialists in pediatric and adolescent surgery,
  • 2001: Member of the Ethics Committee of the City of Vienna and holder of the professional title "University Professor",
  • 2001: Co-editor of the European Journal of Paediatric Surgery until today,
  • 2002-2021: Member of the three-member governing board of the Felix-Mandl Science Fund of the Vienna Health Association,
  • 2002-2022: President of the Vienna/Federal Section of Pediatric and Adolescent Surgery of the Medical Association,
  • 2004: Prize for performing a live funnel chest operation in Bucharest, Romania,
  • Since 2005: corresponding member of the German Society of Paediatric Surgery and vice-president of the Austrian Society of Paediatric Surgery,
  • 2007: President of the Austrian International Van Swieten Society,
  • 2012: Honorary Doctorate of the Karol-Davila University in Bucharest,
  • 2016: Honorary Diploma of the University of Prague and award of the Cross of Honour First Class for Science and Art by the Austrian Ministry;
