  • 1995 – begins studies at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Seville, having successfully completed pre-university studies with overall distinction.
  • Later, she became an intern in the Department of Surgery under the guidance of the prestigious surgeon, Professor Salvador Morales Mendez. In her final year, she received a scholarship to collaborate with the Department of Surgery at the University of Seville.
  • 2001 - Dr. Maria Oliver Romero graduates in Medicine and Surgery
  • 2002 - Passed the MIR exam, ranking 19th out of 10,000 national candidates and was the first MIR doctor to obtain a place at Virgen del Rocio Hospital in her first year of specialization.
  • 2007 – completed her doctoral dissertation and finished her training as a neurosurgery specialist, and has since worked as a regional specialist at the Virgen del Rocio University Hospital.
  • Her training includes a stay at Western Hospital in Toronto, with Prof. Andres Lozano, one of the most important figures in the world in the field of deep brain stimulation.

  • She completed her health career as an associate professor at the University of Seville, teaching neurosurgery to medical students since 2008.

  • She practices functional neurosurgery at Virgen del Rocío University Hospital, along with a multidisciplinary team of neurologists, neuropsychologists, and neurophysiologists. She is the first female neurosurgery specialist in the country responsible for movement disorder surgery through Deep Brain Stimulation. She is currently at Virgen del Rocío University Hospital.
  • Her training as a neurosurgeon covers all general pathologies of the skull and spine, as well as complex brain and spinal tumor pathology, the use of new technologies such as neuronavigation or intraoperative monitoring, aimed at ensuring maximum tumor resection without consequences for the patient. At the same time, she has in-depth training in a comprehensive approach and treatment of pituitary tumors.
