Nose aesthetics, also known as rhinoplasty, is the name given to surgical operations performed to change the shape of the nose. There are two techniques: open and closed rhinoplasty. The reason why closed rhinoplasty is preferred is that a more natural look can be achieved without an incision or scar.
The area between the two nostrils is called the columella. In closed rhinoplasty, no incision is made in the area of the columella and no skin is removed. As the arteries, veins and columellar nerves in this area are not cut, this has a positive effect on the recovery process.
Closed rhinoplasty can be performed on anyone, but cannot be performed on patients who have previously had open rhinoplasty. This becomes clear after examination. With closed rhinoplasty, the tip of the nose becomes more flexible and because the nerves are not cut, the tingling sensation at the tip of the nose disappears after about a month. In some patients, the tingling sensation may not occur at all.
