Prof. Dr. Ediz Altanlu was born in Istanbul in 1965. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Marmara University in 1990. Between 1992 and 1997, he obtained his specialty in General Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine of Cerrahpaşa University. Between 1997-2002, Prof. Dr. Altonli worked as the Chief Clinical Assistant of the Department of General Surgery at Istanbul Cerrahpaşa University, and between 2003-2005 he worked as the Head of the General Surgery Clinic at Shishli Etfal Hospital - Ministry of Health.

Between 2005 and 2011, he worked as the Assistant Head of the General Surgery Clinic at Haidarpasha Numune Hospital, Ministry of Health and in 2011-2012 as the Head of the Clinic. Prof. Dr. Ediz Altonli served as the Director of the Department of Colorectal and Gastro-Intestinal Surgery at Florence Nightingale Cudaköy Hospital between 2015-2016 and as the Director of the Centre for Oesophagogastric Surgery at Florence Nightingale Cudaköy and Atashehir Hospital between 2016-2017 made. Currently, Prof. Dr. Ediz Altonli is working as a general surgery specialist at Memorial Bahçeliyevler Hospital - Istanbul, Turkey.
