Prof. Dr. Selahatin Özmen was born in 1971 in Kiziltepe. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Hacettepe University in 1995. In 2002, he completed his specialization at the Department of Plastic Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine at Gazi University. He specialized in oral, maxillofacial surgery at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 2013.

  • He won the EURAPS (European Society of Plastic Surgery) Young Scholarship Award and in 2004 he worked at the Salgren Academy, Sweden in the field of craniofacial surgery.
  • He was awarded the First Prize in the category "experimental work" of the Plastic Surgery Education Foundation (PSEF). Only a few people in Turkey have won this prestigious American award.
  • In 2007 in Germany he won the first place and the certificate "Certified Wound Expert ICW" (International Wound Specialist).
  • Winner of 20 awards, of which 8 international.
  • Since 2010 he has been a member of the Scientific Council on Tissue Transplantation at the Ministry of Health.

In March 2012. Prof. Özmen led the team that performed the third face transplant in Turkey (First 3D and first female-to-female face transplant in Turkey) at Gazi University. He is also a member of the Combined Tissue Transplantation Board of the Ministry of Health. He received the rank of Assistant Professor in 2004, Associate Professor in 2007 and Professor in 2013 at Gazi University.
