At October 3rd, 2026, Saturday, The Medical Karadjiev Health Information Center organizes a free informational seminar in Sofia with Dr. Cengiz Çabukoğlu, A specialist in orthopedics and traumatology with over 25 years of professional experience. The seminar will provide an opportunity to get acquainted with his work with patients and general questions regarding modern methods of orthopedic treatment.
The event will bring together the specialist, his current patients and their families, as well as people who are just considering orthopedic treatment in Turkey.
Who is Dr. Cengiz Çabukoğlu?
Dr. Genciz Çabukoglu is an orthopedic and traumatologist whose professional activities include pediatric orthopedics, correction of complex deformities, limb lengthening, and reconstructive surgery for congenital abnormalities.
A special focus in his work is on conditions in which the development of bones and joints is impaired from birth, as well as orthopedic problems in children with cerebral palsy.
In 2025 in the scientific journal JAAOS Global Research & Reviews has been published with his participation Cabukoglu reconstruction technique (cruris plasty). The technique is described in two complex cases of congenital tibial and fibular hemimelia and represents a reconstructive approach that, in certain patients, can be discussed as an alternative to amputation.
What diseases and conditions does Dr. Çabukoglu work with?
- CEREBRAL PALSY – orthopedic deformities, muscle contractures, gait disorders, and surgical options to improve motor function.
- Congenital luxation and dysplasia of the hip joint – disorders in the development and stability of the hip joint in children.
- Difference in limb length – congenital or acquired shortening of the legs and possibilities for surgical correction.
- Tibial and fibular hemimelia – rare congenital abnormalities with partial or complete underdevelopment of the bones of the heel.
- Proximal focal femoral insufficiency (PFFD) – congenital underdeveloped upper part of the femur bone.
- Limb deformities – O-shaped and X-shaped legs, bone deformities and abnormalities in the axis arrangement.
- Equinovarous gait (crooked stride) – congenital foot deformity and treatment options.
- Other congenital orthopedic abnormalities – complex disorders in the development of the bones, joints and limbs.
Cabukoglu reconstruction technique: a reconstructive approach in rare congenital anomalies
Among Dr. Çabukoglu's professional achievements is the development of Cabukoglu Reconstruction Technique, surgical technique bearing his name. It is intended for the reconstruction of the lower limb in certain rare congenital abnormalities and may offer the possibility of preserving it in cases where amputation is discussed. The technique was described in an international scientific publication in 2025.
What will the specialist present during the seminar?
Dr. Çabukoglu will talk about the modern treatment options for pediatric orthopedic diseases, surgical approaches for congenital abnormalities and severe deformities, methods for correcting and lengthening bones, and orthopedic surgeries in CP.
Special attention will be given to reconstructive surgeries in rare congenital diseases and the possibilities for treatment and follow-up in Turkey.
After the presentation, attendees will be able to ask general questions about the diseases presented, surgical methods, and recovery.
In addition to the medical presentation, the seminar will provide an opportunity for direct conversation between people who have already undergone treatment with the specialist and families who are considering taking such a step.
How does the preparation for surgery proceed? What follows after the surgical intervention? What are the challenges during the recovery period?
These are some of the questions that future patients and their loved ones will be able to discuss with people who have gone through this process.
How can an individual medical opinion be obtained?
The event is informational in nature and does not involve individual medical consultations.
Families who wish their specific case to be reviewed by the specialist may separately request assistance from Medicarlaj to send medical documentation to the specialist.
