At October 24, 2026 – Medicaraj organizes free individual meetings with Prof. Dr. Zafar Orkun Toktaş, He is a specialist in neurosurgery at a partner hospital in Istanbul.
The initiative provides an opportunity for patients with brain tumors, spinal cord diseases and other neurosurgical problems to receive a second opinion regarding the diagnosis, recommended treatment and the options for neurosurgical surgery in Turkey.
Who is Prof. Dr. Zafar Orkun Toktaş?
Prof. Dr. Zafar Orukun Toktaş is a specialist in neurosurgery, and his professional activity focuses on the diagnosis and surgical treatment of diseases of the brain, spinal cord, and spinal column.
He graduated in medicine from Uludag University and specialized in neurosurgery at Marmara University. His professional experience includes research at Harvard Medical School in the USA, as well as surgical practice in Turkey.
His work includes the surgical treatment of brain and spinal tumors, degenerative diseases of the spinal column, and other complex neurosurgical conditions.
Prof. Toktas is well known to Bulgarian patients. Over the years, many of them have undergone surgical treatment under his care.

To participate, patients must contact Medicarlaj in advance and provide the available medical documentation no later than 3 days before the announced date.
The documents may include:
- Episcrites and previous medical opinions
- Results of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT)
- Operational protocols, if the patient has already undergone surgery
- Information about the treatment performed and the current condition
Prof. Toktas will familiarize himself in advance with the provided documentation so that the specific case, possible treatment approaches, and the need for additional examinations can be discussed.
After reviewing the documents, the team at Medicarlaj will contact the patient to confirm whether the case can be discussed with the specialist and to schedule an individual appointment for October 24th.
